Why Carpet May Need Replacement

The carpet on your doggydocks® ramp provides traction so dogs can safely climb out of the water. It also adds a finished look to your boat dock or pool deck. Sometimes dogs are so overcome with joy that they may scratch or bite at the doggydocks, but typically the main culprit is environmental exposure.

• Chlorinated swimming pools – Depending on your pool filtration system, chlorine can accelerate the degradation of plastics and synthetic fibers, which can weaken marine carpet over time. If you are using doggydocks in a pool, we recommend removing it from the water at night, rinsing it with fresh water, and allowing it to dry overnight.

• Sharp nails or claws – Dogs may occasionally catch the carpet with their nails, causing rips or tears.

• Sun and weather exposure – UV light and constant exposure to water can slowly degrade the carpet over time.
