Securing the doggydocks® to your mounting surface is the single most important thing you need to do to make sure your Floating Water Ramp will last for several seasons. Any movement of the mounting board will cause the doggydocks to fail prematurely. Vibration and movement will creates friction and will cause the waterproofing coating to wear down, potentially allowing water to penetrate the board. This is especially important at the Swivel Cleat opening. In addition, the doggydocks hinge spline must be placed exactly over the edge of the mounting surface. The Hinge is a heavy-duty stainless steel, 3” wide custom hinge. It is designed to move the doggydocks up and down as your dogs walk on the board. What it is not designed to do is to carry load or weight. When the doggydocks is extended past the edge of the mounting surface and the hinge is carry weight, the screws will strip out of the board.
When mounted property the doggydocks should not have any movement at the mounting base. Even a small amount of movement will cause accelerated wear and part failure.
Proper attachment i.e. mounting of the doggydocks® is critical to the overall serviceability and longevity of the doggydocks. Improper mounting can cause a number of issues, including excessive wear to the cleat insert, fraying of the carpet around the cleat cut out, hinges becoming loose or stripped holes
The Swivel Cleat™ is the recommend method for securing the doggydocks to boat platforms, docks and pool decks. The Swivel Cleat will keep the mounting board from moving laterally or vertically and will prevent damage to carpet and plastic insert. The swivel cleat is also the fastest way to attach and remove the doggydocks at the end of the day. The existing hole pattern is a standard size that will fit most dock cleats.
The Quick Release Mounting Kit™ is a lightweight method for dogs weighting less than 40 lbs.
The Hinge Repair Kit is used to repair stripped screw holes or where there is heavy wake action.
The Concrete Mounting Kit™ can be used by as a standalone kit for concrete docks or swimming pools. It can also be used if you are securing the Swivel Cleat™ to concrete.
Important
Installing over a standard dock cleat should only be used in an emergency and will void the warranty if used regularly to secure the doggydocks®.
